The World's largest Pull Test Stand
World’s first: Pull Test Stand with a capacity of 1,500 tons
East Metal A/S
and CERTEX Peter Harbo A/S form an alliance around load tests of large items.
The two companies are both specialized in their unique field. East Metal A/S
has in few years built a big company specializing in heavy, complex steel constructions
and components, including lifting beams. At the same time CERTEX Peter Harbo
A/S has built competencies in proof testing the same subjects, and it has
therefore been a natural development to formalize an already close cooperation.
East Metal A/S manufacture
as a subcontractor in its own factories in Latvia and Denmark to customers in
most of the world, primarily in wind and oil and gas, but also for machine
builders, building industry and others. East Metal A/S employs more than 700
highly qualified specialists in welding, machining, surface treatment,
production optimization, quality assurance, project management and customer
Harbo A/S is a part of the CERTEX group, Europe's leading suppliers of wire
rope, lifting and hoisting devices. The CERTEX group will complement with great
know-how and not least in the test and service applications with CERTEX Peter
Harbo A/S in front. In testing CERTEX Peter Harbo A/S has been among the
leaders in offshore oil / gas and wind. With the cooperation between East Metal
A/S and CERTEX Peter Harbo A/S both companies are positioned at the forefront
in the international field.
East Metal A/S has
been responsible for the construction of a test stand with a capacity of 1,500
ton. That in itself is impressive, but it is unique that it can work with very
huge subjects, which earlier not has been possible to load test without safety compromises
and very high costs. Testing in a test stand like this is a big advantage
compared to the known alternatives.
Harbo A/S contributes with technical assistance and know-how. At the same time
CERTEX Peter Harbo A/S market and manage the use of the test stand. The 1,500
ton test stand is located in Nakskov – at the quay side with depths of 8 ½
meters and 22 meters wide fairway. So the stage is set for a lot of activity in
the old shipyard buildings.
The investment in the test stand has been supported by the EU Structural
Funds for Regional Development 2007-2013, who co-finances projects that
contribute to the region's development potential and enhances companies' growth
